BRANCHES
O.S.S fields the following branches:
Command
Includes overall leadership of the company, platoon, and sections. Dedicated members who steer the ship and are always willing to listen and push the unit to improve.
Platoon Staff
Members who help with management of the unit including recruitment, managing the servers/Discord, moderating, managing schedules, and handling relations with other units.
Infantry
Largest section of the unit; provides boots on the ground for all events/operations. Made up of two core squads (Bloodhounds/Wolfpack) and a squad for scouting, demolitions, and hunting behind enemy lines (Raiders).
Logistics
Responsible for fortification building, placing weapon emplacements, general demolitions, and firing heavy mortars. Critical part of supporting operations.
Armor
Crews mechanized and armored vehicles in events/operations. Leads combined arms operations training/planning.
ROLES
For members completely new to Post Scriptim you can find information on the individual roles on the Wiki page HERE. These roles may have some slight differences in how they’re played and equipped in Realism events; you’ll get a better understanding of that by reading the 1-life event rules and PSRM changes mentioned below. All roles serve an important purpose in events.
UNIT TAGS
As a member of O.S.S we ask that when in game you wear your unit tags. Post Scriptum does not have an option to change in game name so you will need to do so via your Steam profile page. You can find directions HERE. The easiest way is to copy/paste your O.S.S Discord name into your Steam profile. Remember that you represent not only yourself but the unit when you’re wearing your tags!
GAME SETTINGS
The following are some recommended in game settings for Post Scriptum (you’ll most likely need to tweak to your liking regardless):
Sound
Realism events use local voice comms primarily so you’ll want to turn the volume to max in game. Sound effects tend to be very loud so you’ll most likely want to turn them down fairly low as well and find a sweet spot where you can hear them well enough but they don’t drown out voice comms.
Gamma
Realism events run tournament mode with a base gamma requirement of 2.2. With that said, it may be unplayable for you on your setup. Recommendation is to start with 2.2 and once you play on a night match increase it slightly until it’s playable. Do not abuse it but make it playable for you..
Graphics
Generally personal preference here. Higher settings sometimes make spotting enemies more difficult for players. However, it’s not recommended to turn everything down/off as we’re on an honor system to aim for a realistic playing environment. To comply with tournament settings you should set your Shadows setting to Medium.
REALISM EVENT INFO
The majority of the events on our schedule are realism events/operations that follow a 1-life model using the PSRM mod. You can find the mod in the Steam Workshop for Post Scriptum. Direct link HERE. You will also need to download the list of mods/maps under the “REQUIRED ITEMS” section of the PSRM page as well as Project Variety HERE. It is recommended that you read through the change information on the PSRM page to understand the major gameplay differences from vanilla Post Scriptum. They are extensive and include things like more realistic weapon handling, increased suppression, stamina changes, historical units, etc. Further information on PSRM can be found on their Discord HERE with a more detailed list of changes in the #CHANGELOG channel.
To prepare for realism events we ask that you read the realism rules posted on the AEF Discord in the REALISM-RULES channel. It’s very important that all members understand the expectations of realism events and what players can and can’t do. Matches are regularly moderated and admins have little tolerance for rule breaking. You should approach realism events like a sporting event and be a good competitor and act professionally as you represent not only yourself but the unit.
Additionally O.S.S participates in major AEF campaigns like Operation 44. These are large scale campaigns that have a high level strategic element in addition to the Post Scriptum matches. You can find info on the active campaigns in the AEF Discord as well. You can view the Operation 44 campaign rules HERE. The best way to learn realism is to read the above information links and listen to seasoned members and squad leads in matches to absorb as much as you can.
